Vu Lab
Milkie Vu, PhD, is a mixed-methods researcher with more than a decade of experience conducting community-engaged research to promote health equity. Her research program focuses on developing and implementing culturally-relevant, community-centered solutions to reduce cancer and chronic disease health disparities in Asian American, immigrant, and other minoritized populations. She draws on methodologies and theories from social and behavioral sciences as well as implementation science.
Dr. Vu is deeply committed to building multi-sectoral partnerships and leveraging community engagement to explore and address structural and social determinants of health. She is well-recognized for her research contribution on HPV vaccination in Asian American and diverse populations. In addition, Dr. Vu has led several studies on family-based approaches towards chronic disease prevention, including projects focusing on home care aides' support of diabetes management in older adults and on parenting practices to promote adherence to 24-hour movement behaviors in youth.
Dr. Vu actively engages in team science and collaborates with a diverse range of experts, including behavioral scientists, public health practitioners, physicians, nurses, epidemiologists, community partners, and others.
