Focus of Work
I am also a member of Dr. Calum MacRae's interdisciplinary One Brave Idea team, which aims to end coronary heart disease with support from the American Heart Association, Verily, and AstraZeneca. I have served as the senior program advisor to the World Heart Federation for its Emerging Leaders program, which has trained >120 individuals from 48 countries over the past 4 years to help achieve the WHO's goal of reducing premature mortality from noncommunicable diseases, including heart diseases and stroke. I am an Associate Editor for JAMA Cardiology and former coordinating editor of the Cochrane Heart Group US Satellite where I have led evidence synthesis and open data projects related to polypills, statins, risk scores, atrial fibrillation surgery, electrophysiological catheters, and implantable defibrillators.
I also serve as co-director for Northwestern’s cardiology fellowship research training program (population health) and Northwestern's Fogarty-funded global health training program as part of the Harvard University, Boston University, Northwestern University, University of Mexico (HBNU) consortium. I teach courses in cardiovascular epidemiology and systematic reviewing through Northwestern’s Program in Public Health.
