Borko Jovanovic, MS, PhD

Borko D. Jovanovic holds a BS degree in Statistics, an MS degree in Applied Mathematics and a PhD in Biostatistics. He received his PhD from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, in 1991. His experience includes teaching mathematics and statistics at Northeastern University in Boston, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and University of Illinois at Chicago. Since 1985 he has been serving as a reviewer for medical and health science journals such as JAMA, Statistics in Medicine, Circulation and Biometrics. He is a member of the Biometric Society (ENAR), Society for Clinical Trials (SCT) and the American Statistical Association (ASA). He is presently on the Board of ASA, Chicago Chapter (2003) and Associate Editor of Journal of Probability and Statistical Science (2003), and of Cardiovascular Psychiatry and Neurology (2009).

Research Interests

Dr. Jovanovic has research interests in clinical trials, epidemiology, basic science data, and in communication of statistical ideas. As a Biostatistician, he divides his time between the NU Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute where he is a member of the Biostatistics Collaboration Center, and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center where he serves on the Clinical Protocol Scientific Review Monitoring Committee. In addition, Dr. Jovanovic is Director of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics for the Special Program in Research Excellence (SPORE) in Prostate Cancer as well as for the SPORE in Lymphoma. Dr. Jovanovic is principal statistician on NIH sponsored and funded Northwestern center/subcontract "Phase 1 and Phase 2 Clinical Trials of Cancer Chemopreventive Agents" headed by Dr. Raymond C. Bergan.
