Alfred Rademaker, PhD

Professor

Dr. Rademaker obtained his Ph.D. degree in Statistics from Pennsylvania State University in 1974. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, University of North Carolina from 1974 to 1977. He was an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences, University of Calgary from 1977 to 1987. He has been at Northwestern University in the Department of Preventive Medicine since 1988. In 1999, he became director of the Biostatistics Core Facility of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is also the biostatistician for Northwestern University's Cognitive Neurology & Alzheimer's Disease Center.

Research Interests

His general areas of expertise include study design of cancer clinical trials and statistical analysis of data from basic science and clinical cancer studies. Specifically, he is interested in issues related to sample size determination and diagnostic testing. He is also involved in data management, and has strong interests in bioinformatics, as they relate to cancer studies.

Dr. Rademaker is a co-investigator on National Cancer Institute funded studies in the areas of breast cancer and prostate cancer. He has also worked extensively on the statistical analysis of functional swallowing and speech data from head and neck cancer studies.
